Match report
The Republic of Ireland began their UEFA EURO 2020 Qualifying with a 1-0 win over Gibraltar, in Victoria Stadium.

A goal from Jeff Hendrick was enough to give manager Mick McCarthy the win in his first match back as Republic of Ireland manager.

Hendrick’s goal came from some good play down the left. David McGoldrick played the ball into the Dubliner’s feet as his shot easily beat Gibraltar goalkeeper Kyle Goldwin.

In a dominant performance, chances came at a premium for the visitors with the likes of Shane Duffy and David McGoldrick going close.

Despite strong resistance from the home side, Darren Randolph was never tested on a strong night for Mick McCarthy’s men.

The Republic of Ireland return to action on Tuesday night against Georgia in Aviva Stadium. Tickets are available for the game at fai.ie/tickets
