He is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 11 stone. He usually plays left side of midfield but can also operate down the left side or just off the striker.
Reid started his career with Nottingham Forest. He turned professional in August 1999 and went on to score 25 goals in 160 appearances, including several spectacular efforts including an 80 yard run followed by a 30 yard lob against West Ham.
After protracted negotiations lasting for the bulk of his last season at the club, Reid completed his move from Nottingham Forest to Tottenham on the last day of the January 2005 transfer window along with Michael Dawson, for a reported combined fee of £8 million. However, despite Dawson becoming well-established in the team, Reid was in and out of the team before joining Charlton for up to £3 million on the 16 August 2006. He opened his account for Charlton with a hard low drive against Everton on 25 November.
Reid was made Charlton captain for the 2007/2008 season.
On the last day of the 2008 transfer window Andy signed for Roy Keane at Sunderland for a reported fee of £4 million.
